Urban Development Advisory

In India, in 1950 17 percent of the population lived in cities, which increased to 31 percent in 2011. But with Census towns included it is 47%. 

The key to successful and sustainable development lies in a collaborative and integrated approach to planning. Dr. M Ramachandran’s track-record spans 38 years in policy making and implementation all over India and with his experience iin urban development is regularly called upon to deliver vision, strategy, policy and concept development.

Dr. M Ramachadran’s experience allows him to provide valuable perspectives to boards, cultivate a sense of partnership, strengthen teamwork and provide an institutional/policy perspective.

Currently Dr. M Ramachandran is an Independent Director on 7 infrastructure companies incl. Delhi International Airport Ltd. and chairs the Boards of the Heitage Cities Foundation and ICFAI University.

Has been chairing the National Urban Transport Awards Committee and various other award juries.

Dr. M Ramachadran provides inspring lectures by always giving a surprisingly honest account about his experiences.

Dr M. Ramachandran, an IAS officer of the 1972 batch, served State and Central Government in India for thirty-eight years before retiring in 2010. Born and brought up in Kerala, he served in various positions including that of the District Magistrate and Collector, Rae Bareli. He rose to be the Chief Secretary of Uttarakhand and was Secretary in the Ministry of Urban Development, Government of India, for close to four years.

Dr. M Ramachandran has been recognized nationally for his contributions to Urban Development projects in India.
